Allied Health Education

Laboratory Services

The Department of Laboratory Services serves as an affiliate site for students training towards a career in the clinical laboratory setting. These affiliations afford college students the opportunity to come to Bassett to fulfill their required clinical laboratory rotation. Bassett technologists provide hands-on training in such fields as chemistry, microbiology, hematology, urinalysis, serology, transfusion services and phlebotomy. Students interested in completing a clinical rotation at Bassett must do so through their affiliating college or university.

The hospital's tuition assistance program sponsors students entering a medical technologist academic curriculum, contingent upon a specified term of employment with Bassett Healthcare Network. For more information about these programs, call 607-547-3700.

Students interested in shadowing a lab staff member may contact Laboratory Customer Service at 607-547-3700 for more information. High-school students interested in gaining lab experience must do so by contacting their high school New Visions program coordinator.
