At Bassett Healthcare Network, we know weight loss isn’t easy, especially for those suffering with clinical obesity because it is a serious disease that makes weight-loss harder to achieve. If you are researching weight-loss surgery options, you have probably tried every diet and supplement on the market, but our experienced staff is no fad diet; we are committed to helping patients achieve their weight loss goals and improve their overall health.

Through a multidisciplinary collaborative approach, the goal of the weight-loss surgery team at Bassett Healthcare Network is to evaluate and prepare candidates for weight-loss surgery in an effort to assist them in achieving long-term health goals. Because every patient considering bariatric surgery is unique, our program offers a full range of bariatric surgical options, an integrated program that provides guidance on diet, physical activity and psychosocial concerns before and after surgery, and a support team throughout the entire journey.

    Why Choose Bassett?

Bassett bariatric surgeons have completed specialized training in minimally invasive surgical techniques. These techniques, which involve only small incisions, can lead to faster recovery and less pain after surgery.

Bassett Medical Center's comprehensive weight-loss surgery program is designated a Blue Distinction Center+ for Bariatric Surgery by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Blue Distinction Centers are nationally designated health care facilities that show expertise in delivering improved patient safety and better health outcomes, based on objective measures that were developed with input from the medical community.

Bassett Medical Center is accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). MBSAQIP standards come from the collaboration of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) who set out to create nationally recognized standards for bariatric surgery centers.
