Recruitment and Retention of Caregivers Remains a Top Priority for Network Leadership
25 physicians, 21 advanced practice clinicians (Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners),and a new director of the Bassett Research Institute joined Bassett Healthcare Network between September 2025 and April 2026.
This cohort includes 12 primary care providers, nine hospital-based practitioners in Medicine, Anesthesia, Radiology and Emergency Medicine, and 25 providers of specialty care in specialties including Cardiology, Dental, Infectious Disease, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Surgery, and Radiation Oncology.
These new practitioners and their families were invited to a reception, held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Fenimore Farm, to recognize the medical expertise they bring to their patients and celebrate community fellowship. The evening included a cocktail hour, dinner, and remarks highlighting each of the new practitioners, their specialties, and the value they bring to their departments and the network as a whole.
“We are honored these nearly four dozen practitioners have chosen to become part of the Bassett Healthcare Network family. They are integrating seamlessly into our hospitals and health centers,” said Staci Thompson, MHA, FACMPE, President and CEO of Bassett Healthcare Network. “Our medical recruitment team works hard to attract top talent from across the country and around the world to our network. We are so grateful for their skill and dedication.”
The recruitment and retention of caregivers across the continuum of care is a key component of Bassett Healthcare Network’s 2026-2028 Strategic Plan to strengthen the organization. The hire of new practitioners allows for the expansion of services lines, the introduction of new modalities, and reductions in the wait times patients may face when establishing care or seeking follow-up services.
“It is important that each of the new practitioners who join Bassett Healthcare Network know they are part of a legacy at Bassett that is built on exceptional quality,” said Henry Weil, MD, Chief Clinical and Academic Officer of Bassett Healthcare Network. “This event is meant to celebrate the decision they each made to grow their career in this rural region of New York State. They are cut from the same cloth that has made this place so wonderful for so long.”
