Heart Surgery & Minimally Invasive Procedures

If you are experiencing chest pain or pressure, fatigue, shortness of breath, or have a history of heart disease — Bassett’s cardiologists can evaluate you and recommend treatments. These may include minimally invasive heart surgery or more complex cardiac surgery, including open-heart surgery. These may be necessary to help open or bypass blocked arteries, replace damaged heart valves, or correct arrhythmias.

Our cardiology team also offers interventional cardiology procedures. These minimally invasive heart procedures involve inserting a small tube, called a catheter, into your heart or a blood vessel to resolve your heart problem. With this type of procedure, your recovery time is quicker and less painful than with open heart surgery.

Electrophysiology

Your heart is regulated by electrical impulses that signal the heart to beat in a certain rhythm. When the rhythm is interrupted it causes an irregular heartbeat pattern known as Atrial fibrillation (AFib) or an Arrhythmia. Our electrophysiologists are cardiologists who can identify and treat these electrical malfunctions of the heart using defibrillators, pacemakers, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and other devices.
