O’Connor Hospital has once again been named one of America’s top-performing hospitals in Emergency Care and Emergency Room (ER) Timeliness, and ER Efficiency. It received two 2026 Women’s Choice Awards® in these areas and placed in the top 17% of hospitals for Emergency Care and in the top 4% of U.S. hospitals for ER Wait Time and Efficiency when ranked with over 4,600 U.S. hospitals.
Rankings are based on the most recent publicly available clinical data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient satisfaction survey results, relevant accreditation information, and the American Hospital Directory. Criteria weighed in the rankings include the average time patients spent in the ER and the percentage of patients who left without being seen.
ERs are a vital part of any healthcare system. They are where patients go to receive life-saving care when every second counts. Caregivers who work there often interact with patients during moments of heightened emotion, when urgency is required.
“Emergency departments can be incredibly stressful—especially for the elderly or a parent with a sick or injured child,” said Delia Passi, founder and CEO of the Women’s Choice Award. “In those critical moments, time becomes more precious than gold. The ER is a place where every second matters, and swift, informed decisions can save lives. That’s why we honor hospitals that not only deliver care quickly but also earn high patient recommendation scores—demonstrating their commitment to both efficiency and compassion when it matters most.”
The ER at O’Connor Hospital welcomes patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The hospital, located at 460 Andes Road in Delhi, is certified as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH), which means it provides healthcare services to patients who might otherwise have to travel far to receive care. This access can be especially important during an emergency.
“This recognition reflects our team’s relentless focus on both the speed and quality of care we deliver every day. In the emergency setting, we know that minutes matter, and our commitment is to provide rapid, efficient care without ever compromising clinical excellence or patient safety,” said Aaron Wilson, DNP, FNP-C, Director of O’Connor Hospital’s Emergency Department. “This award affirms the dedication of our staff to streamline processes, reduce delays, and ensure that every patient receives timely, compassionate, and high-quality treatment. It is a testament to the trust our community places in us and the standards we hold ourselves to in every patient encounter.”
In addition to emergency services, O’Connor Hospital also offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including general surgery, cardiology, orthopedics, and dentistry.
“The community-minded care that is provided at O’Connor Hospital is truly something special. It comes as no surprise to me that the timeliness and quality of the care provided at the hospital’s ER rank so highly. We take pride in supporting our neighbors when they are in need of care,” said Susan Oakes Ferrucci, DNP, MSN, RN, CNS, President of O’Connor Hospital and Chief Hospital Executive of Bassett Healthcare Network’s Critical Access Hospitals Division.
O’Connor Hospital is one of 459 hospitals nationwide to receive the 2026 Women’s Choice Award for Emergency Care and one of 463 hospitals nationwide to receive the 2026 Award for ER Wait Time and Efficiency.
