Cobleskill Regional Hospital has been named one of the best hospitals in America for Emergency Room (ER) Timeliness, Wait Times, and Efficiency for the year 2026 by Women’s Choice Awards®. The hospital placed in the top 8% of U.S. hospitals when ranked with over 4,600 U.S. hospitals.

ERs are a vital part of any healthcare system. They are where patients go to receive life-saving care when every second counts. Caregivers who work there often interact with patients during moments of heightened emotion, when urgency is required.

“Emergency departments can be incredibly stressful—especially for the elderly or a parent with a sick or injured child,” said Delia Passi, founder and CEO of the Women’s Choice Award. “In those critical moments, time becomes more precious than gold. The ER is a place where every second matters, and swift, informed decisions can save lives. That’s why we honor hospitals that not only deliver care quickly but also earn high patient recommendation scores—demonstrating their commitment to both efficiency and compassion when it matters most.”

The Best Hospitals for ER Wait Time & Efficiency designation recognizes hospitals that excel in emergency timeliness while also providing an outstanding patient experience. Rankings are based on performance measures, reported by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), including the average time patients spend in the Emergency Department before leaving the hospital, the percentage of patients who left without being seen, admissions decision time to the Emergency Department for admitted patients, and the hospital’s Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) recommendation rating.

“The professionalism and expertise of the caregivers at Cobleskill Regional Hospital are second to none. We appreciate this recognition of all of the effective problem-solving, and quick decision-making that make our Emergency Department one of the best,” said Erin Vollmer, MS, RN, NC-BC, NE-BC, CHOP-B, Director of Nursing and Operations at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.

The ER at Cobleskill Regional Hospital welcomes patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The hospital, located at 178 Grandview Drive in Cobleskill, is certified as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH), which means it provides healthcare services to patients who might otherwise have to travel far to receive care. Cobleskill Regional Hospital is the only hospital and only provider of emergency care in Schoharie County.

“Cobleskill Regional Hospital is a trusted community healthcare resource for so many patients and families who would rather be seen close to home. This award highlights all of the hard work that goes into ensuring those in need of emergency care receive it in a timely manner. This is one of many areas where our hospital excels,” said Susan Oakes Ferrucci, DNP, MSN, RN, CNS, President of Cobleskill Regional Hospital and Chief Hospital Executive of Bassett Healthcare Network’s Critical Access Hospitals Division.
