Spring 2026 Safety Guide Is a National Recognition for Commitment to Patient Safety

A.O. Fox Hospital has earned a prestigious “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” or “F” grade to hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries, and infections.

Fox Hospital has served Oneonta residents, visitors, and those living in surrounding communities with medical care and health services that are exemplary. We appreciate the Leapfrog Group’s recognition of the high standards hospital leaders and caregivers follow, all benefiting the patient,” said Staci Thompson, MHA, FACMPE, President and CEO of Bassett Healthcare Network and President of A.O. Fox Hospital.

In January 2026, Bassett Healthcare Network announced its 2026-2028 strategic plan as part of the organization’s continued vital efforts to grow its services and workforce, with quality of care acting as a key area of focus. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

“An ‘A’ Grade is a strong sign that A.O. Fox Hospital is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff, and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.”
