COVID-19 Visitor Response Plan
Please note that inpatient visitation at our network hospital locations has resumed in a limited capacity. This includes Bassett Medical Center, A.O. Fox Hospital, A.O. Fox Hospital – Tri-Town Campus, Cobleskill Regional Hospital, Little Falls Hospital, and O’Connor Hospital. This does not apply to our long-term care facilities.
Inpatient visitation hours at our hospital locations will include:
- Monday – Sunday: 1:00pm – 7:00pm.
With rising cases of COVID-19 in our region, we have suspended visitation for the safety of patients and staff in all emergency departments (EDs) across our network effective Dec. 22, 2021, until further notice.

When You Arrive
Unless you are an emergency admission, you should report to the Registration Office, which is located at the Main Entrance of the hospital.
What to Bring
Bringing identification cards or documents relating to insurance coverage is important. It would be helpful if you bring a list of any prescription medications and their dosage that you are currently using. You will need to bring only a few personal items. Please leave all valuables at home. For your convenience and comfort, we suggest you bring a robe, nightgown or pajamas and personal toiletries. Also, nail polish (from fingers and toes) should be removed before a hospital stay.
This is a summary of your responsibilities as a patient of Little Falls Hospital:
- It is your responsibility to provide accurate and complete information about all matters pertaining to your health, including medications and past or present medical problems.
- You are responsible for following the instructions and advice of your healthcare team. If you refuse treatment or do not follow the instructions or advice, you must accept the consequences of your actions.
- It is your responsibility to notify a member of the healthcare team if you do not understand information about your care and treatment.
- You are responsible for reporting changes in your condition or symptoms, including pain, to a member of the healthcare team.
- It is your responsibility to act in a considerate and cooperative manner and to respect the rights and property of others.
- You are responsible for following the rules and regulations of the healthcare facility.
- For outpatients, you are expected to keep your scheduled appointments or to cancel them in advance if at all possible.
- It is your responsibility to pay your bills or make some arrangement with the facility to meet your financial obligations.
Little Falls Hospital is committed to providing you with respectful care as we meet your healthcare needs. For this reason, we provide the following summary of your rights as a patient:
As a patient in a hospital in New York State, you have the right, consistent with law, to:
- Understand and use these rights. If for any reason you do not understand or you need help, the hospital MUST provide assistance, including an interpreter.
- Receive treatment without discrimination as to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, sexual orientation or source of payment.
- Receive considerate and respectful care in a clean and safe environment free of unnecessary restraints.
- Receive emergency care if you need it.
- Be informed of the name and position of the doctor who will be in charge of your care in the hospital.
- Know the names, positions and functions of any hospital staff involved in your care and refuse their treatment, examination or observation.
- A no smoking room.
- Receive complete information about your diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.
- Receive all the information that you need to give informed consent for any proposed procedure or treatment. This information shall include the possible risks and benefits of the procedure or treatment.
- Receive all the information you need to give informed consent for an order not to resuscitate. You also have the right to designate an individual to give this consent for you if you are too ill to do so. If you would like additional information, please ask for a copy of the pamphlet “Do Not Resuscitate Orders — A Guide for Patients and Families.”
- Refuse treatment and be told what effect this may have on your health.
- Refuse to take part in research. In deciding whether or not to participate, you have the right to a full explanation.
- Privacy while in the hospital and confidentiality of all information and records regarding your care.
- Participate in all decisions about your treatment and discharge from the hospital. The hospital must provide you with a written discharge plan and written description of how you can appeal your discharge.
- Review your medical record without charge. Obtain a copy of your medical record for which the hospital can charge a reasonable fee. You cannot be denied a copy solely because you cannot afford to pay.
- Receive an itemized bill and explanation of all charges.
- Complain without fear of reprisals about the care and services you are receiving and to have the hospital respond to you and if you request it, a written response. If you are not satisfied with the hospital’s response, you can complain to the New York State Health Department. The hospital must provide you with the State Health Department telephone number.
- Authorize those family members and other adults who will be given priority to visit consistent with your ability to receive visitors.
- Make known your wishes in regard to anatomical gifts. You may document your wishes in your health care proxy or on a donor card, available from the hospital.
Patient Visitation Information
- You have the right/ability to choose who can visit you.
- You have the ability to refuse visitors at anytime. Just inform your nurse who you do not want to visit or that you do not want visitors.
- There are no set visitation times, but if family is staying overnight they have to make arrangements with nurse manager.
- Your visitors must use public restrooms and not your bathroom for infection control purposes.
- Your visitors should remain with you or in the patient lounge during visits.
- Visitation can be limited if your physician or interdisciplinary team feels it is clinically in your best interest.
- If your visitors are under the age of 12 they must be accompanied by an adult.
- Your visitors should be free of signs and symptoms of illness.
- Visitation information may change if deemed necessary by infection control during period of influenza or other communicable diseases.
- From 9pm until 6am all Visitors must enter the Hospital through the emergency room.
- Little Falls Hospital is a smoke and tobacco free facility and requires that all visitors adhere to that policy.
