Cooperstown, N.Y. – Friends of Bassett Healthcare Network held a summer reception event on August 1 in support of a new Convenient Care clinic in Cooperstown. The event, which garnered more than 150 guests at an elegant lakeside reception at the Fenimore Art Museum, raised nearly $100,000.

Bassett seeks to build the new Convenient Care location just south of Cooperstown at its Hartwick Seminary Specialty Services complex. This new center will provide ready access to same-day and next-day medical care for minor illnesses and injuries that need timely, but not emergency attention. The total projected cost of renovating Bassett’s existing Hartwick Seminary Specialty Services clinic space to accommodate a new Convenient Care center is $3 million. Friends of Bassett Healthcare Network seeks to raise $500,000 to support the project.

“This display of generosity and community spirit was so heartening,” says Sheila LeMaster, Vice President and Chief Development Officer of Friends of Bassett. “These funds provide significant momentum towards providing our Cooperstown patients and community guests with accessible walk-in care for non-emergency medical needs – a service that will greatly benefit this community.”

The summer reception featured a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, live music by the LSMT Quartet, remarks from Bassett leaders, and more, all set against the stunning backdrop of Otsego Lake.

“We would like to thank everyone who made this event possible, including our sponsors, our wonderful hosts at the Fenimore Art Museum, LSMT Quartet, auction prize contributors, and many others,” says LeMaster. “Thank you for your generosity and sharing in our deep passion for rural health and serving our communities.”
