Dr. Jim Dalton and his wife, Deb.

More than 360 guests attended the Friends of Bassett Healthcare Network’s fourth annual Valentine’s Soirée at the Otesaga Hotel & Resort on Saturday, February 8. The soirée and auction raised $250,000 in support of the medical education program at Bassett Medical Center. This year’s event paid tribute to director of Medical Education Dr. James Dalton, who retired from clinical practice at Bassett Medical Center this year after serving as an attending physician there for more than 30 years.

As William F. Streck, M.D., CEO of Bassett Healthcare Network, observed, “This year’s event resonated with a Valentine’s Day theme of appreciation and affection in honoring Dr. James Dalton. The overflow crowd warmed to the opportunity to let him know how much all value his efforts as a physician, educator and community member. All in all a remarkable evening honoring a remarkable individual.

“We are very appreciative of the continued support from our sponsors for Bassett programs and initiatives. The proceeds of this year's event is an investment in Bassett’s Medical Education program, which helps to improve outcomes for patients. We thank our volunteers for their dedication and commitment. They made the Valentine’s Soiree the success that it was.”
