The Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI®) recently named Bassett Medical Center “CNOR Strong” on its 2025 recognition list. This designation signifies that over 50% of Bassett Medical Center’s perioperative nurses have earned their Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) credential and that our organization consistently recognizes and rewards nurses who become CNOR-certified or -recertified.

“Professional development is an essential part of Bassett Nursing,” says Christina Curcio, MSN-RN, Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Nursing at Bassett Medical Center. “It is professionally satisfying to receive credentials like CNOR. More importantly, our deeper understanding improves our ability to care for our patients.”

A 2014 study by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) correlated OR Nurse certifications with improved patient outcomes. Bassett Medical Center shares the CNOR Strong designations with 142 other hospitals across the United States.
