Friends of Bassett Healthcare Network is pleased to announce Plates of Hope raised $4,500 to move local cancer care forward.

Plates of Hope was held during the first week of June. Each day, one of seven Oneonta-area restaurants partnering with Friends of Bassett donated 10 percent of the total purchases that day to the Bassett Cancer Care Initiative, an effort to raise $3.5 million dollars towards a $7 million project to expand Bassett Cancer Institute at FoxCare Center in Oneonta and purchase a new mobile cancer screening unit to serve Bassett’s eight-county service area.

The week culminated in a Saturday evening celebration at B Side Ballroom & Supper Club in Oneonta. The other participating restaurants were Autumn Café, Dazzo’s Kitchen, Humphrey’s, Social Eats, Stonewall at the Meredith Inn, and Toscana Northern Italian Grill.

“We are so grateful to each of the establishments that partnered with us to make Plates of Hope such a success. Their enthusiasm for this initiative shows their commitment to the local community,” said Sheila LeMaster, Vice President and Chief Development Officer of Friends of Bassett Healthcare Network. “Thank you also to each of the restaurant’s patrons who not only enjoyed great cuisine but contributed to such a heartfelt cause for us at Friends of Bassett. Our efforts to raise $7 million dollars to expand local cancer care and prevention will continue forward. This contribution brings us closer to our goal.”
