On Sunday, June 1, Bassett Healthcare Network’s Bassett Cancer Institute joined healthcare organizations across the country in celebrating National Cancer Survivors Day. It’s a time for survivors to get together with their loved ones, find community, and celebrate their strength, resolve, and the support of so many who stand with them. June is National Cancer Survivors Month.

The Bassett Cancer Institute celebration was a luncheon held at Fenimore Farm and Country Village. Survivors and their guests were invited to attend completely free of charge. Food from Brooks’ House of BBQ was served and a basket raffle was held.
“We enjoy hosting this luncheon each year as we know survivors in our community and their guests always look forward to it. This celebration brings so many of us together to share old memories and make new ones and is often a chance for survivors, their guests, and our Bassett Cancer Institute team to catch up with one another,” said Breanna Ostrander, Cancer Service Line Coordinator at the Bassett Cancer Institute. “I am so grateful to everyone who worked with me to organize it and those from the Cancer Institute who attended the luncheon and volunteered their time. Thank you also to those at Fenimore Farm and Country Village for being such wonderful hosts, and to Onco360 who was a leadership circle sponsor for this year’s luncheon."
This year’s event comes at an exciting time for the Bassett Cancer Institute. A fundraising campaign is underway to expand cancer care at FoxCare Center in Oneonta and invest in a new mobile cancer screening coach. To learn more about this campaign, click here.
