A.O. Fox Hospital, part of Bassett Healthcare Network, is pleased to announce the recertification of its Cardiac Rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). This certification recognizes A.O. Fox Hospital’s commitment to improving the quality of life of patients by enhancing standards of care.

Cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation programs are structured to help people recover faster from cardiovascular conditions and procedures (like heart attacks and coronary artery bypass surgery) and pulmonary diagnoses (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [COPD] and other respiratory problems). Both programs include exercise, education, counseling, nutrition therapy, and support for patients and their families on an outpatient basis.

To earn the prestigious accreditation from AACVPR, Fox’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program participated in an application process that requires extensive documentation of the program’s practices. AACVPR program certification is the only peer-reviewed accreditation process designed to appraise individual programs for their adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other related professional societies. Each program’s application concedes rigorous review by the AACVPR Program Certification Committee and certification is awarded by the AACVPR Board of Directors.

“This recognition is a true honor,” says Mary Hansen, registered nurse for both Fox’s Cardiac Rehabilitation and Supervised Exercise Therapy for Symptomatic Peripheral Artery Disease (SET-PAD) programs at FoxCare Center. “Our team is dedicated to the patients and families we serve, creating individualized care plans, and meeting each patient where they are on their journeys with heart and pulmonary disease. Fox’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Department also receives incredible support from our hospital administration, fostering growth and innovation on the front lines of patient-centered care. We are both grateful and humbled by this accreditation.”

A.O. Fox Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program has been accredited by AACVPR continuously since 2007.
