Joint replacement surgery removes the damaged and worn parts of the knee or hip and replaces them with artificial parts called prostheses. The implant, especially selected to match individual needs, is affixed to the underlying bones to make the joint strong, stable and flexible again. The surgery relieves pain and restores mobility and independence in everyday activities.

    Advancements in Joint Replacement

Over the past few decades, there have been many advances in the design, construction and materials used for total joint prosthesis. As a result, total joint replacements have a 90 percent chance or greater of lasting a minimum of 15 years.

There have also been significant advances in surgical approaches. The surgeons at Bassett perform the latest surgical techniques to minimize recovery time and improve patient outcomes. Along with traditional approaches, we now offer direct anterior hip replacements.
