Dr. Fredette grew up in Schenevus, NY, and now lives with his wife and three sons in Worcester, NY. Before turning to medicine, he worked as a writer/producer/director in public television. The two careers seem to have little in common, but are linked by a lifelong interest in teaching and education.

Dr. Fredette has undergraduate degrees in English and communications. He earned his medical degree at Albany Medical College where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed his pediatrics residency at Albany Medical Center where he received the Otto Faust award for excellence in teaching and patient care. He is board certified in pediatrics and has a special interest in literacy issues.
