Valley Health Services is the Valley’s leader in rehabilitative care. From short- and long-term rehabilitative care to outpatient rehabilitation, our professional licensed therapists treat body, mind, and spirit in a comfortable setting.

Additionally, Valley Health Services’ licensed physical and occupational therapists treat hundreds of outpatients annually in our state-of-the-art rehabilitation suite. Staff provide speech therapy and treat sports-related injuries. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program assists outpatients recovering from heart attacks, heart surgery, angioplasty and those with heart disease to return to a healthy and active lifestyle.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

The Cardiac Rehabilitation program assists patients recovering from heart attacks, heart surgery, angioplasty and those with cardiac disease. It is the goal of our staff to work with the patient in achieving his or her highest level of physical function. A physician's referral is necessary to begin the cardiac rehabilitation program.

Each patient is thoroughly evaluated and then placed on an individualized prescription program for exercise that is designed to strengthen the heart. Our state of the art cardiac monitoring system ensures that your vital signs are continually being assessed as you use our cardiac exercise equipment.

Proper nutrition and understanding the need for healthy eating habits are essential for cardiac health. Our dietary staff will meet with you and your family, as requested, to provide information and discuss your questions and concerns. Our staff clarifies the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Each patient of the cardiac rehabilitation program is also encouraged to join the Hearty Hearts Club, a group that meets quarterly for lunch, socialization and occasional programs. The luncheons are held quarterly at Valley Health Services and are free of charge. Spouses are welcome.

Physical Therapy

Our professional physical therapists and physical therapy assistants work with each patient toward a return to the patient's optimal level of function. Valley Health Services offers physical therapy 6 days per week. Physical therapy services are provided for both long-term and short-term needs.

For long-term needs, our full-time rehabilitative staff make physical therapy, as well as occupational and speech rehabilitation available to our 160 residents when needed to maintain strength and improve the level of function. The short-term rehabilitative services at Valley Health Services are available for patients who have been recently discharged from the hospital and need to gain strength and restore independence before going home.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy is concerned with an individual's ability to independently perform activities of daily living, complete job related duties and enjoy leisure activities. An occupational therapist will perform a functional evaluation in order to determine strengths and areas requiring specific interventions. Based on the results of the evaluation and the goals of the patient, the occupational therapist will develop a treatment plan tailored to maximize the patient's ability to function independently. Occupational therapy professionals are concerned with mental, social, and environmental barriers that impede a patient's independence.

Occupational therapy interventions may help individuals experiencing impairment as a result of:

  • Strokes
  • Orthopedic injuries
  • Amputations
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Hand trauma or injury
  • Developmental disabilities
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Arthritis, degenerative joint disease
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Shoulder disorders

The goal at VHS is to deliver quality occupational therapy services so our patients may return to safety living their lives as quickly as possible.
