Valley Residential Services will host a Senior Health & Wellness Fair: Boardwalk to Better Health, at Herkimer College in Herkimer, NY. This health & wellness fair will feature vendors from the community, guest speakers, giveaways, and FREE screenings!

The event will offer resources for senior citizens who wish to remain independent in their own homes, may be contemplating downsizing, and wish to learn more about estate and gift planning, assisted and enriched housing information, safety and security, Medicaid or Medicare plans, and many other areas of interest.There will be giveaways, lots for everyone to do, and the event is free and open to the public!

The following talks will be hosted:

 Scams Against Seniors 

Synopsis of talk: learn about scams and how they impact you and your loved one; how you are at risk for financial scams; the usual suspects and types of scams; resources to report scams and financial abuse.

Should We Stay or Should We go: What Housing Options Are Right For You 

Synopsis of talk: Are you at the point in your life where you may be considering alternative living arrangements?Are you caring for aging parents who need more support in terms of daily living care? This session is for anyone struggling to answer these questions and seeking the necessary knowledge to make the best choices. Ms. Betrus will explore the array of care and service options available today from services to allow someone to remain in their home to the various levels of care available outside the home. She will outline how to determine what level of care is needed and how to access care and services. This session is essential for anyone trying to make sense of the confusing industry of senior care and will lay it out in plain and simple terms that can be easily understood.
