A Great Start for all RNs in Acute Care Nursing and other Specialties

  • Two day general employee orientation
  • Nursing orientation first week of employment
  • Precepted experience on your assigned unit
  • Four days of additional orientation following patient care experience on your unit 

Join the Nurse Residency Program

  • A full year of support provided by experienced educators with monthly classes
  • Educational seminars
  • Peer support group activities
  • Formalized professional mentor relationship
  • Support in building your professional portfolio

Other Professional Development Programs

New nurses receive a paid hospital orientation and a precepted competency based orientation on their assigned unit/department. Expert clinicians facilitate the nurse's integration into the patient care setting.

BLS and ACLS courses are offered to nurses - onsite throughout the year. Nursing management supports ongoing nursing education. Bassett employees are provided opportunities for instruction in clinical education, personal growth, leadership, and computer skills. Nursing Grand Rounds offer case presentations and other evidence based presentations to illustrate nursing process in action in the care of individuals, groups, and communities.

The full service George Miner Mackenzie Medical Library & Learning Resource Center provides computer access to many on-line nursing journals and offer tutorials on developing research skills and finding information resources.
