Fox Hospital is a large complex organization with over 950 employees, an annual operating budget in excess of $80 million, and a medical staff consisting of more than 70 physicians.

To lead this enterprise, Fox has assembled a talented and dedicated team of leaders:

Jeff Joyner, President


Jeff Joyner began his role as President of A.O. Fox Hospital on January 1, 2016. Originally hailing from Hollis, Maine, Jeff earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration/Economics from the University of Maine at Farmington and a Master of Health Administration from the University of New Hampshire. He recently served as a health care executive at St. Joseph’s Healthcare System in Paterson, New Jersey and has over two decades of leadership experience across all sectors of the patient care delivery continuum. Jeff also has extensive experience in managed care, population health and system development, as well as physician and nursing recruitment and support services.

Jeff previously served as Vice President of Professional Services at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine, from 2009-2013. From 2003-2009, he held the position of Vice President of Patient Support Services at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

In addition, his diverse experiences includes election to the Maine State Legislature. He was elected and served two, two-year terms in the State House of Representatives,1993-1997.Outside of work Jeff enjoys being active and outdoors. Some of his favorite activities include golfing, hiking, tennis and traveling. Jeff and his wife Sara have two daughters, Julia and Jillian and in his leisure he enjoys reading books on history and spending time with his family.


Gary M. Smith, Vice President of Operations



Gary M. Smith has been Vice President of Operations at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home since 1986. A native of Rome, NY, his healthcare career began as a Respiratory Therapist following graduation from Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. Gary attained a Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration from SUNY IT, Utica, NY. He earned his Master degree in Healthcare Administration from the New School for Social Research, NYC. He served as Chairman of the Board and currently is Vice Chairman of AT Home Care, a premiere home health care agency. Gary is an active member of the New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aged. Locally, he is a member of St. Mary’s Church and enjoys working on Habitat for Humanity projects and serving at “Saturday’s Bread.”

In his free time, Gary enjoys numerous outside activities, highlighted by hockey, skiing, tennis and sailing. He enjoys them most when accompanied by his wife and two daughters.


Mark J. Wright, Vice President of Finance



Mark J. Wright was actually born at Fox Hospital and spent his youth in the local area before heading off to Siena College for his degree in business administration. He began his career with Coopers and Lybrand, then became the Director of Finance for Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Peekskill, New York. In 1994, Mark moved to Elmira and became the Controller for St. Joseph's Hospital. He is a member of the New York State Society of CPA's and a member of AICPA and has served on the boards of Catholic Charities and At-Home Care.Mark and his family are passionate about sports, playing in local leagues and following his favorite national team, the Miami Dolphins.


Reginald Q. Knight, MD, Vice President of Medical Affairs


Dr. Reginald Knight began his role as Vice President of Medical Affairs at A.O. Fox Hospital on July 5th, 2016.  He also continues as an Orthopedic spine surgeon with the Bassett Spine Care Institute.  He is a graduate of the State University of New York at Oneonta and received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Upstate Medical Center. He continued his training at New York Medical College, where he completed a residency program in Orthopaedic Surgery. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Spinal Surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY and a Master of Health Administration focused on Policy from Capella University.

Dr. Knight is a member of numerous prestigious medical organizations, including the North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Scoliosis Research Society and Founding member of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery,

His interest and expertise in clinical research has allowed him to publish over 50 articles and abstracts in medical journals such as the Spine Journal, Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, and the Journal of Spinal Disorders.  He has also made numerous presentations both in the United States and at international medical meetings and conferences.  His non-medical interests include photography, pottery, gardening and study of Martial Arts.


Jennie Gliha, Vice President of Patient & Employee Experience


Jennie Gliha earned her degree in Business Management/Human Resources from Binghamton University and obtained a Masters degree in Human Resources Management from Stony Brook University. She serves on the Board of Directors for Bassett Healthcare Network-- At Home Care, as well as SFCU and Otsego County Chamber of Commerce. She is also a member of the American College for Healthcare Executives and a member of the Society for Human Resources Management.

Jennie is a native of Long Island, NY, but she and her family have lived in Oneonta for the past several years. Prior to starting her career at A.O. Fox Hospital Jennie had held Executive Level Human Resources roles in the Private Sector, with Local Government and most recently with a college in the State University of New York (SUNY) system. Jennie has also served as a Human Resources Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the NYS Office of Commission Operations and Municipal Assistance. Jennie enjoys spending free time with her family.
