New President Appointed for Fox Hospital

November 8, 2015

jeffA several months long national search for a new president to lead A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta, New York, has ended with the selection of a health care executive from Paterson, New Jersey, who has over two decades of leadership experience across all sectors of the patient care delivery continuum.

Bassett Healthcare Network President and CEO Dr. Vance Brown and A.O. Fox Hospital Board of Directors chair Sarah Patterson announced today that Jeff Joyner, previously System Vice President for Operations at St. Joseph’s Healthcare System, Paterson, NJ, has been named President of Fox Hospital effective January 1, 2016. He succeeds John Remillard who announced his plans to retire earlier this year after 27 years leading the hospital through a number of expansion and modernization projects as well as the affiliation with Bassett Healthcare Network in 2009.

“Jeff takes over leadership of Fox Hospital at a crucial time,” noted Brown. “The landscape of health care delivery is changing dramatically and he brings a wealth of experience to bear on the challenges ahead. Jeff has extensive experience in managed care, population health and system development, as well as physician and nursing recruitment and support services. We are fortunate to have someone of his caliber become part of the leadership team of Bassett Healthcare Network.”

In announcing the selection of Joyner as the new president of Fox, Patterson thanked Remillard for his tremendous contributions during his tenure. “We are indebted to John for all he has done for the hospital and wish him well in his much-deserved retirement. The board of directors is also excited to have such a highly skilled individual succeed John and take on the work of leading this next phase of A.O. Fox Hospital’s development as we position ourselves for continued success in the new health care environment.”

The search process for a new president began shortly after Remillard announced his plans to retire in March of this year. Seth Haight, treasurer of the Fox board of directors and chair of the search committee, said, “We had over 30 health care professionals express an interest in the position. We interviewed six semi-finalists and narrowed the decision to three individuals. Jeff was our top choice because of his proven leadership in those areas so important to Fox Hospital’s future.”

In addition to his position at St. Joseph’s Healthcare System in New Jersey, Joyner previously served as Vice President of Professional Services at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine, from 2009-2013. From 2003-2009, he held the position of Vice President of Patient Support Services at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Joyner is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. In addition, his diverse experiences include election to the Maine State Legislature. He was elected and served two, two-year terms in the State House of Representatives, 1993-1997. Joyner holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration/Economics from the University of Maine at Farmington and a Master of Health Administration from the University of New Hampshire.
