First baby of New Year born at the Bassett Birthing Center continues to capture the attention of central New York

January 2, 2018

The Bassett Birthing Center in Cooperstown welcomed its first baby of 2018 shortly after the ball dropped in Time Square to ring in the New Year. Baby Isabella Marjorie made her debut at 1:21 a.m. on Jan. 1, and arrived at a healthy 8lbs 3oz, 19 inches long.

Mother, Marcy Pullman, and father, James Fancher, were scheduled to welcome their little girl a day later, but Isabella just could not wait, arriving on the same day as her great grandmother’s birthday. Isabella Marjorie gets her beautiful name from her great grandmother, Marjorie, who was also born on New Year’s Day as well.

There were 1,034 babies delivered at the Bassett Birthing Center in 2017, with the 1,000th baby born on Dec. 19. We thank our OB and pediatric providers, and birthing center nursing staff for their hard work welcoming 1,034 healthy babies in 2017, and their continued care through 2018 delivering Isabella Marjorie and so many more.
