June 1, 2014

Dan Ayres, Chief Executive Officer of O’ Connor Hospital in Delhi and Tri-Town Regional Hospital in Sidney, affiliates of the Bassett Healthcare Network, has announced that he has accepted a position in his native State of West Virginia as President and CEO of Summersville Regional Medical Center. Ayres’ last day will be September 28, 2014.

Ayres has been CEO at O’ Connor Hospital since 2004 and Tri-Town Regional Hospital (TRH) since 2009.

“Dan has done a phenomenal job of leading both O’ Connor and Tri-Town Regional Hospitals, and we regret seeing him leave,” said Bassett Healthcare Network Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Bertine McKenna, Ph.D. “However, the position he has taken in West Virginia represents a great opportunity to further his professional career while also returning to family and friends in the state where he grew up. We wish him all the best.”

Summersville Regional Medical Center in Summersville, West Virginia, is a 50-bed acute care hospital with intensive care, special care and obstetric units as well as a 50-bed long-term care facility.

Ayres notified his staff Wednesday, July 2, saying, “My experiences at Bassett, O’Connor and Tri-Town Regional Hospital could not have been more positive and rewarding and have prepared me for this larger challenge. I am completely confident in the leadership teams at both facilities and the staff, and proud of our collective achievement in making the hospitals the top performers they are today. Both O’ Connor and TRH are doing well financially, have good quality scores and good patient satisfaction.”

Ayres also acknowledged the support of Bassett Healthcare Network, which he noted has been critical to the hospitals’ success. “We are extremely fortunate to have the network’s resources available to the hospitals and communities we serve.”
