Jane Hamilton, RN, practice manager of Bassett’s School-Based Health program, recently received New York School-Based Health Alliance’s (NYSBHA) inaugural Award for Service to the Field of School-Based Health. Hamilton was selected to receive the award because she regularly helps provide models, samples, assistance and guidance to her peers in school-based health centers across the state.

“Jane’s a regular go-to for me when members turn to the Alliance with questions, and she certainly is deserving of recognition for it,” says Sarah Murphy, executive director, NYSBHA. “Her skills and experience extend beyond Bassett or even NYSBHA, but to helping the many people in the field who have been referred to her over the years with their questions. She’s a state resource.”

NYSBHA was formed in 1992 as an advocacy organization representing the interests of school-based health centers (SBHCs) in New York State. Its mission is to create access to comprehensive, high-quality primary care, including medical, mental, oral and community health services, for all children and youth statewide through SBHCs. The Alliance advocates for policies that promote the sustainability of SBHCs; promoting the delivery of high-quality services; raising awareness of the school-based health model; and promoting the growth and expansion of SBHCs.
