Ultrasound Technologist-Per Diem

The ultrasound technologist is qualified by professional credentialing to provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures.  The scope of practice of the ultrasound technologist includes those procedures, acts and processes permitted by law for which the individual has received education and clinical experience, has demonstrated competency, and has completed the appropriate ARDMS certification(s) which is the standard of practice in ultrasound.

The ultrasound technologist will be required to conduct multi-specialty diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to departmental procedures and provides high quality care to patients.  This individual works under the direction of the Director of Medical Imaging.  This person assists in all clinical roles within Little Falls Hospital ultrasound and vascular laboratory.

The ultrasound technologist is responsible for the independent operation of ultrasound equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using ultrasound.

The ultrasound technologist is responsible for daily operations of the ultrasound area, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). The ultrasound technologist maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.

Requirements:

Position requires extensive standing, occasional sitting and routine walking.

Ability to lift, possibly heavy lifting in support of patient positioning, instrument and equipment handling.

Education:

Graduate of a formal Ultrasound Program, required.

Experience

One year of Ultrasound experience, preferred.

 

Certifications:

ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers), preferred.

Skills:

Excellent motor, hand, eye, coordination and manual dexterity required.

Ability to handle and operate equipment, read, retains and comprehends written and oral medical and technical information.

Ability to build rapport quickly, develop trust, sustain working relationships, and represent LFH positively in internal and external meetings is required.

Strong time-management and organizational skills, required.

Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills, required
