Bassett Healthcare Sports Medicine

The concept of a Sports Medicine program at Bassett Healthcare has evolved from years of caring for injured athletes. Within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation patients receive comprehensive athletic injury care. Our orthopedic surgeons, physician assistants, physiatrists, physical therapists, and certified athletic trainers coordinate care specific to the individual needs of an active patient.

Our primary goal is to provide early access to care. In addition to evaluation, diagnosis and treatment we focus on educating patients about injury prevention and rehabilitation. Bassett Healthcare providers are located in a community near you allowing you to receive care in a nearby clinic or possibly at your school!

Early access is obtained by reaching one of our athletic trainers at 1-800-618-8880 or 1-800-955-8568.  To see if your high school has a contract for athletic training services, click here.  If you are a community member with a sports injury or an active lifestyle we urge you to call 1-800- BASSETT and ask for the orthopedic provider nearest you who specializes in sports medicine. Appointments are always available in a timely manner to meet the needs of your active lifestyle.

Our certified athletic trainer and medical providers provide continuing education to coaches and general medical providers on sports injury. Our goal is to educate you as an individual on how to successfully recover from your specific injury and work to prevent future injury or chronic problems.

Our physicians provide care to intercollegiate athletes at Hartwick College and the State University of New York College at Oneonta. Working closely with the certified athletic trainers, the orthopedic surgeons provide further diagnosis and make recommendations for treatment plans allowing safe return to play.
