Patient Education

Patient education is important for a successful and seamless recovery. Members of the Joint Replacement Center team review each step of the process with each patient and answer questions as they arise, so patients are knowledgeable about their treatment plans and are active participants in the recovery process. All patients are required to attend a Total Joint Education Class prior to surgery.

Class topics include:

  • The surgical procedure and what to expect
  • Caring for your surgical site
  • How to prepare your home and family
  • Planning for discharge
  • Physical therapy and rehabilitation
  • Caring for your joint replacement

Classes are held in Cooperstown, Oneonta and Cobleskill. If you are considering total joint replacement surgery and would like to attend a class, please call (607) 547-6317 for more information.
