Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
Bassett Healthcare Network recently introduced the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Funded by a two-year grant under President Obama’s Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act (CHIPRA), the goal of the program is to enroll uninsured children and teens up to age 19 in low-or no-cost health insurance through Medicaid or Child Health Plus.
Bassett Healthcare Network’s CHIP provides a unique service with free one-on-one assistance with the completion and filing of applications for the Medicaid and CHP health insurance programs. Whether meeting a parent at a School-Based Health Center (SBHC), hospital, their home, or in the community, the program’s Outreach Workers will go the extra mile to ensure that all uninsured children, no matter how much money a family makes, receives the health insurance and medical care they deserve.
Outreach Workers are making their way into six area counties (Otsego, Schoharie, Herkimer, Delaware, Chenango and Madison) to introduce themselves and the program, and assist families.
