Women's Health Center Opens

Cooperstown, NY – To better meet the health care needs of women in the Greater Oneonta region, Bassett is combining its Women’s Health services in Oneonta into one location at 7 Associate Drive on the same campus as Bassett’s Oneonta Specialty Services. Bassett’s new Women’s Health Center opened November 7.

“We’re very excited about moving into a new space dedicated to the health care needs of the women we serve,” says Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology Dr. Siobhan Hayden. “I think our patients will appreciate personalized visits in a relaxed, comfortable environment.”

The Women’s Health Center features a very patient friendly design that is spacious and bright. There is also a computer available to patients while they’re waiting or after an appointment so that they may look information up on the Internet.

Hayden says, “Taking care of women’s health needs means more than just an annual exam and we understand that. I encourage women to think of their appointment as a health maintenance visit and to dialogue with their provider about any concerns they may have. It’s an opportunity to discuss their own health history as well as family health history, lifestyle and risk factors. We want our patients to look forward to visits with their Women’s Health provider.”

Besides obstetric services and the typical annual gynecologic exams and breast exams, Bassett’s Women’s Health providers can also screen for such common medical disorders as diabetes, thyroid disease, hypertension and osteoporosis. Cancer prevention in the form of mammograms, pap smears and more has always been a focus for Bassett’s Women’s Health program.
