Post-Irene Update From Bassett
Cooperstown, N.Y. – Despite the devastating effects of Hurricane Irene on many communities, there have been minimal closures or disruptions to patient care throughout Bassett Healthcare Network.
Bassett officials continue to meet and work closely with local, state and county officials in order to keep up to date on the flooding and road closures/detours, with the goal of alleviating or minimizing disruption to patient care in affected areas.
In Schoharie County, one of the areas hardest hit by flooding, two of Bassett’s health centers were closed on Monday (Schoharie and Middleburgh), but only the Middleburgh Health Center remains closed. The health center, located at 109 Baker Ave., will remain closed to patients while the necessary clean up and repairs are made. Bassett’s health center in Delanson, N.Y., was also closed Monday but re-opened the next day. Arrangements were made at Bassett’s Cobleskill Health Center for those patients needing immediate care.
Emergency Rooms and Urgent Care centers have had no disruption in their service to patients. Bassett Healthcare Network pharmacies are operating normally.
Many Bassett network employees live in areas adversely impacted by the storm and some have sustained loss of property. “We are doing everything we can to support patients and our staff members who have been directly affected by the recent hurricane,” said Dr. William F. Streck, President and CEO of Bassett Healthcare Network
