Night Of Silver Sells Out - $244,483 Raised For New Hi-Tech Operating Suite

Cooperstown, N.Y. – In what proved to be Friends of Bassett’s most successful Gala ever, “Night of Silver,” the 2010 New Year’s Eve Gala honoring President and CEO Dr. William Streck’s twenty-fifth anniversary, raised $244,483. A sell-out crowd of over 400 people attended the event at the Otesaga Resort Hotel.

“The remarkable record of growth and success Bassett has achieved over the past quarter century could not even have been imagined when Dr. Streck was appointed to lead the organization,” observed Dr. Thomas Morris, chairman of Bassett’s Board of Trustees. “Such achievements,” Morris said, “have been possible because of Streck’s vision and because of the very talented and committed professional medical and nursing staffs, technical personnel and support staff throughout Bassett. Morris pointed out that, “In the hospital world, Bill Streck is an outstanding example of a physician administrator, a title particularly appropriate for him because his training and experience as a caring physician guides everything he does in the patient care, education and research missions of the institution. Furthermore, Dr. Streck’s caring approach to his responsibilities permeates throughout the organization.”

Event proceeds will support a much-needed expansion of Bassett Medical Center’s surgical suite in 2011. Bassett’s surgical program served a record number of patients in 2010 and that trend is expected to continue in 2011, hence the need for a bigger, more sophisticated surgical suite that will include a new state-of-the-art operating room and support space.
