Health Check On The Road In Central New York

Cooperstown, NY – Bassett Healthcare Network developed Health Check as a resource for area businesses that want to provide employees with convenient access to cancer screenings. Health Check utilizes the Bassett Cancer Institute’s mobile cancer screening coach. The screening coach can literally drive up to the front door of the business so employees don’t have to travel. Individuals who are not covered under a health insurance plan may be eligible for free screenings.

This week, the coach traveled to Golden Artist Colors in New Berlin. Director of Human Resources Bill Berthel says, “Bringing cancer screenings to the company’s 150 employees is a way to encourage a proactive approach to health care.” Eleven employees at Golden Artist Colors took advantage of the screenings. Berthel notes, “As part of our wellness culture, we take proactive care seriously and attempt to take advantage of every service and program we can afford to. Having the coach come to us at the work place reduces one significant barrier for employees who don’t have to take time from work to take care of their health.”

Health Check is a cancer screening program that can provide:
 Breast exams
 Mammograms
 Pap tests & pelvic exams
 Colorectal cancer screenings
 Prostate screenings

Businesses interested in the program first meet with a provider from the Bassett Cancer Institute to learn more about the benefits of cancer screenings and then a day of screenings is scheduled.
