Hawkeyes And Bassett Team Up

Buying a ticket to a Cooperstown Hawkeyes' game will not only get you a seat to watch great baseball, it will now also allow you to help people in need. Beginning this season, the Hawkeyes and Bassett have teamed up to provide the Hawkeyes with increased visibility while also helping Bassett employees struggling as the result of an unexpected adverse event. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket sale will be donated to a Bassett employee assistance fund.

“The Fieldstone Assistance Fund was put in place to assist employees who are encountering financial difficulties of an emergent nature, such as those associated with an illness, fire or accident,” explains Michael Stein, vice president of The Friends of Bassett Healthcare Network, which administers the fund. “The demands on this fund have increased over the years as the number of employees in need has grown, and so we are grateful for the Hawkeyes' anticipated contributions to the Fieldstone Assistance Fund.”

In return for contributions to the Fieldstone Assistance Fund, the Hawkeyes’ season schedule and promotions will be made available on Bassett’s private computer network so that employees will now be able to not only follow the team, but support their colleagues at the same time.

Hawkeyes’ owner Tom Hickey says, “We appreciate Bassett’s support of the Hawkeyes and welcome the opportunity to help out Bassett. It’s a great partnership and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship.”

The Cooperstown Hawkeyes, a member of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, will play their season opener June 9 in Elmira and their home opener at Doubleday Field June 10 against Newark. Individual game and season tickets are on sale. To purchase tickets or for more information, call 376-6220 or go to www.cooperstownhawkeyes.net.

In the meantime, the Hawkeyes are still seeking host families for the 2011 season. 25 young ballplayers will move into the local community this baseball season as they continue to pursue a career in professional baseball. Anyone interested in hosting one of these players may call
