Cooperstown EMS Squad Recognized For Pre-Hospital Care
Cooperstown, N.Y. – Bassett Healthcare Network’s Trauma Program has recognized another local Emergency Squad for the squad’s dedication to pre-hospital care. The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers of the Cooperstown Emergency Squad have received the 2011 John Spoor Memorial Award for Dedication and Service.
Beginning in 2005, the annual award has been given to a local emergency squad working with Bassett Healthcare Network, and is named for Bassett’s past Emergency Department Chief, Dr. John Spoor. Trauma and Stroke Program Coordinator Coleen Vesely notes, “Dr. Spoor was instrumental in the training of emergency providers as the EMS community knows it today.”
The award is given to a squad based on the type of patients they work with and bring in to the Emergency Department. “The number of calls they respond to and the severity of a patient’s condition are all factors that are considered in selecting a group of EMS providers for this award,” says Vesely.
Members of the Cooperstown Emergency Squad are: Loree-Marie Allen, Ethan Ayres, Cheryl Beckwith, Gage Boecke, Frank Capozza, Brian Clancy, Stephen Clancy, Michael Coccoma, Lora Colten, Michael Desimone, Tim Dolan, 2nd Lt., Glen Falk, Beverly Hargrove, Trevor Hayes, Walter (Jim) Hogan, Jr., Donna Hribar, 1st Lt., Bonnie Kaido, Joshua Kantor, Albert Keck, Frank King, Maria Konopka, Bruce Kramer, Andrew (Fred) Lemister, Peter Macarthur, Bruce Maxson, Wolfgang Merk, Sarah Nolan, Alison Phillips, Eric Pierce, Captain, Kevin Preston, Thomas A.
