Bassett To Locate Primary Care Practice In Clinton

Cooperstown, N.Y. – In a village that is home to Clinton Central School and Hamilton College, individuals will soon have more options for primary health care for the family. Bassett Healthcare Network plans to open a family practice health center in Clinton by the end of this year.

Bassett’s Certificate of Need (CON) for a primary care clinic, located at an existing site at 34 Chenango Ave., was approved this month by the New York State Department of Health. The plans are to move forward to develop the 5,100 square foot space into a custom-built health center containing eight patient exam rooms. The site is located in Clinton Station, formerly referred to as the Great American plaza.

The new health center in Clinton would join with the existing Bassett Healthcare Network extension clinics at Hamilton, Sherburne, West Winfield and Herkimer to improve rural access to high quality primary care services for children and families in the local communities.

Dr. Aimee Pearce, who practiced in the Clinton area from 2007 to 2009, and who lives in Clinton, will be the lead physician at Bassett’s Clinton health center. Dr. Pearce joined Bassett Healthcare Network in 2009 and currently sees patients in West Winfield and Richfield Springs. There are plans to add at least one more practitioner, two nurses and one or two other support staff in order to establish the practice in Clinton.

“I am exited to be returning to Clinton with Bassett Healthcare Network. I look forward to creating a practice that serves children and adults to meet the needs of the community and will welcome current, past and new patients,” said Dr. Pearce, who is board certified in family medicine.

The center would be available to meet the needs of many patients currently accessing services with Bassett Healthcare Network and those who are not followed regularly by a health care provider or who lack access to locally available primary care.
