Bassett Physicians Listed In Best Doctors
Cooperstown, N.Y. — Four Bassett Healthcare Network physicians have been included in the Best Doctors in America 2011-2012 database. Drs. Karen M. McGinnis, Donald A. Raddatz, Steven D. Resnick and William J. Richtsmeier have been selected for recognition in their respective medical specialties. Approximately 45,000 physicians are selected in the U.S. as being the top in their fields and most qualified for reviewing and treating complex medical conditions. The selection process for recognition is determined primarily from data acquired from physician peer-review surveys. Additional research is conducted on each individual physician by the Best Doctors staff.
Karen M. McGinnis, M.D., is a board certified thoracic surgeon and associate chief-of-surgery, who sees patients at Bassett Hamilton Specialty Services and Bassett Healthcare Network – Little Falls Hospital. Dr. McGinnis received her medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed her internship at University of Massachusetts Medical Center and residencies at University of Massachusetts Medical Center and Albany Medical Center. She joined Bassett in 2005.
Donald A. Raddatz, M.D. is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology and division chief of rheumatology at Bassett Medical Center. He received a BMS degree at Dartmouth Medical School and his medical degree from University of Minnesota Medical School. Dr. Raddatz completed his internship, residency and fellowship through University of Minnesota Affiliated Hospitals. Dr. Raddatz has practiced at Bassett for 30 years and sees patients at Bassett Medical Center and at Bassett’s Herkimer Health Center.
Steven D. Resnick, M.D. is board certified in dermatology, with subspecialty board certification in pediatric dermatology. Dr. Resnick is the division chief of dermatology at Bassett Medical Center and is medical director of Bassett’s Hartwick Seminary Specialty Services. He received his medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine and completed an internship at University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals and a residency and fellowship in dermatology and pediatric dermatology at University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Resnick has been with Bassett since 1995.
William J. Richstmeier, M.D., Ph.D., began his medical career at Bassett more than 30 years ago as otolaryngologist-in-chief. He was chief of Head and Neck Oncology in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine before joining Duke University Medical Center in 1992, where he was professor and chief of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Richtsmeier rejoined Bassett in 1999 as chief of the division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Richtsmeier was director of the Bassett Cancer Institute from 2007-2010. Earlier this year and in 2009, he received a Presidential Citation from the American Head and Neck Society, the surgical oncology society for treatment of cancers of the head and neck. Dr. Richtsmeier received his undergraduate degree from University of Notre Dame, completed a doctorate in microbiology from the Medical College of Wisconsin and earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University.
