Bassett-Fox Radiation Oncology Program At FoxCare
Cooperstown, N.Y. – Beginning January 1, 2011 Bassett’s Chief of Radiation Oncology Dr. Timothy Campbell and the Bassett Radiation Oncology physician group will begin seeing cancer patients needing radiation therapy at the FoxCare Center on state Route 7 in Oneonta. Dr. Campbell and Bassett will assume responsibility for the radiation therapy physician services when Fox Hospital’s Dr. Henry Keys retires Dec. 31.
The Bassett-Fox Radiation Oncology Program is part of the ongoing effort by Bassett and Fox to share services and provide them in a way that is convenient to patients. Bassett and Fox continue working toward the coordination of additional cancer care services. Renovations are underway at FoxCare that will allow the Bassett Cancer Institute to move its Oneonta cancer services from 7 Associate Drive to the FoxCare Center off of state Route 7. It’s anticipated the move will take place no later than March.
Once the work is complete, Dr. Yoshiro Matsuo, Bassett hematologist and oncologist, will see cancer patients at the new location. “The spacious new facility will better accommodate the needs of patients served by Bassett and A.O. Fox Hospital in the greater Oneonta area,” notes Dr. Matsuo, who explains that the new space is more conducive to patient comfort and affords more privacy for patients receiving chemotherapy treatments. “The location at the FoxCare Center also means that patients can get radiation and chemotherapy under the same roof.”
In addition, Dr. James Leonardo and Patty Jacob, family nurse practitioner, will work alongside Dr. Matsuo and continue to see cancer patients in Oneonta. FoxCare radiation oncology staff will continue to provide radiation therapy at FoxCare under the direction of Bassett’s Chief of Radiation Oncology Dr. Timothy Campbell.
