The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending that the influenza vaccination be administered to all people six months of age or older. People at high risk of serious flu complications include young children, pregnant women, people with chronic health conditions like asthma, diabetes or heart and lung disease and people 65 years and older. Vaccination is also important for health care workers and other people who live with or care for high-risk people to keep from spreading flu to high-risk people. The vaccine contains no preservatives. Please check the CDC or NYS Department of Health websites for other high-risk categories and more flu information.
For more information, please call Bassett Medical Center’s flu information line at 607-547-7973 or call 1-800-BASSETT. You can help fight the flu by washing your hands frequently, covering your mouth and nose when you cough, and staying home from work or school if you have symptoms of a cold or the flu.
