Pharmacists with Bassett Medical Center and Fox Hospital Achieve Special Board Certification

Cooperstown, N.Y. – Amanda Mcfee-Winans, Pharm.D., Bassett Medical Center, and Maia Terry Decker Pharm D, Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator, A.O. Fox Hospital, have passed the board certification exam for Pharmacotherapy Specialist. Only about 7,000 pharmacy professionals world-wide have been both credentialed and able to pass the rigorous examination process to achieve this designation.

Pharmacotherapy is defined by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties as that area of pharmacy practice that is responsible for ensuring the safe, appropriate, and economical use of drugs in patient care. The pharmacist as a pharmacotherapy specialist has advanced responsibility for direct patient care, often functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team and is frequently the primary source of drug information for other health care professionals. Achieving the Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) designation is a distinct honor.
