Lachance appointed anesthesiology chief at Bassett Medical Center
Cooperstown, N.Y. – Michael P. Lachance, M.D., Ph.D., has been appointed chief of the Department of Anesthesiology at Bassett Medical Center. The announcement by Bassett CEO Dr. William F. Streck follows the formal action of the Bassett Medical Center Board of Trustees on July 9.
"We are delighted that Dr. Lachance has accepted this position," said Dr. Streck. "Mike has demonstrated great leadership skills in his interim role and his thoughtful approach to the complex issues of health care delivery complements his medical skills."
"It is a privilege to lead such a dedicated anesthesia department," said Dr. Lachance. "Our goal is to continue providing the state of the art, great patient care that is the tradition at Bassett Healthcare Network."
Dr. Lachance is a graduate of Michigan State University. He obtained his Ph.D. in pharmacology in 1982 and his M.D. in 1986, both from the University of Louisville. He joined Bassett in 2005 from Saratoga Hospital where he served as chair of the Department of Anesthesia.
Dr. Lachance lives in Fly Creek with his wife Carole and their daughters Joelle and Michaela.
