Don't Miss The 2010 Bassett Gala Auctions And Raffle

Cooperstown, N.Y. - Art! Epicurean Experiences! Fashion & Personal Care! Getaways! Home & Garden! Out & About! Sports & More! Unique! Regional businesses, restaurants, artists and other donors have contributed some of their best works, items and services to fill these eight categories and create another highly-anticipated Bassett Gala Silent Auction. Proceeds from the Silent Auction, Pre-Gala Auction and Raffle will support the construction and capital needs of a new high-tech operating suite within Bassett Medical Center.

Window Shop
Riverwood: to Tues., Nov. 30
A selection of Silent Auction items currently is on display in the storefront window of Riverwood, Cooperstown’s popular Main St. specialty shop, until Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Pre-Gala Auction & Raffle
Bassett Clinic lobby: Wed., Dec. 1 & Thurs., Dec. 2
For two days, an array of items will be on display at the Bassett Clinic lobby. On Dec. 2, winning raffle tickets will be drawn at 4:00 p.m. Pre-Gala items will be awarded to the highest bidder at 5:00 p.m.

Silent Auction
The Otesaga Hotel: Bassett New Year’s Eve Gala
The complete treasure trove of items will be available to the highest bidders. Bidding, both in person and by closed bid forms, is expected to be competitive for this year’s centerpiece items:

• A Cub Cadet GT 100 Garden Tractor
• A 2003 Victory Classic Cruiser motorcycle

Among the items up for bid are:

•  Works by Elba Damast, Robert Schneider, Pat Foster, Mary Nolan, Nancy Becker Pettibone, Fran Harris, John Williams Sanford Jr., Marjorie Landers and other notable artists
• Ceramics from Sunny Leinhart and Wendy Reich
• Photography by Frank Forte and Jerri L. Dobler
• Cocktails on The Otesaga’s veranda, an Austrian Dinner & Wine Tasting for 12, plus gift certificates to regional restaurants.
• A collection of sterling silver jewelry and an amber torsade necklace from Poland
• A two-night getaway at The Sagamore Resort and a classic golf package at The Hotel Hershey
• An on-field experience with Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith, private golf lessons from Ron Philo and a private golf tournament with local pros at the Leatherstocking Golf Course for three foursomes.

“I am extremely grateful to everyone who has made the 2010 Gala auctions and raffle possible,” said Scott A. Barrett, executive director of the Friends. “We are fortunate to have so many friends and neighbors across the region who were particularly generous in their donations, and dedicated volunteers who make up the Auction committee and who have worked tirelessly since February. On behalf of all the patients who will benefit from having an expanded surgical suite in Bassett Medical Center, I thank them all.”

All auction items are listed in the auction booklet, available at the above locations or by contacting the Friends’ office. Non-attendees to the Gala can participate in the Silent Auction by filling out and submitting closed bid forms, which are contained in the auctions booklet.
