Bassett Breast Cancer Awareness Speech and Screening

Cooperstown, N.Y. – In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Bassett HeBreast Cancer Awareness Month is in October and there’s good news about treatment and survival. On Friday, October 15, Dr. Bernadette Ryan and Peg Ryan, Regional Director, American Cancer Society, will present, Knowing the Facts about Breast Cancer, at noon in the Clark Auditorium, to help decrease your chances and increase your knowledge about Breast Cancer.

Clinical breast exams and mammograms are from 8:00AM-11:00AM and 2:00PM-5:00PM. For appointments call Sierra Seaman at 607-547-4830 and walk-ins are welcome. Uninsured/ underinsured individuals may qualify for free cancer screening through the Cancer Services Program of Delaware, Otsego and Schoharie Counties. Call 1-888-345-0225 to enroll.

In 2009 an estimated 192,370 people were diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and it is predicted that in 2010, there will be at least 207,090 cases.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, there will be a presentation and screening opportunities at Bassett Medical Center on Friday, October 15.
