Gala Entertainment

The entertainment at the 2011 Bassett New Year's Eve Gala will have you jumping out of your chair and onto the dance floor.

Featured this year are two great groups, Doc Scanlon's Rhythm Boys, and the dance troupe Chez-zam, who will have a DJ keeping the music going all night long.

Doc Scanlon's Rhythm Boys

Since 1978 Doc Scanlon's Rhythm Boys has been bringing its distinctive style of Big Band swing to audiences around the world. From Albany, New York, to St. Petersburg, Russia, the band has brought audiences to their feet with an exciting blend of swing and rockin' rhythm and blues. Doc Scanlon’s Rhythm Boys have performed with B.B. King, Asleep at the Wheel, and the late Woody Herman. Their repertoire contains works by Louis Jordan, Glenn Miller, Nat King Cole, Chuck Berry and Ray Charles.

Their signature sound is based on the horn section of Riff Baxter's trumpet and Bruce Berky's tenor and alto sax, backed by the rhythms supplied by Don Young on guitar, Gene Garone on drums and Reggie "Doc" Scanlon on bass. All the band members share lead and harmony vocals.

Chez-zam

 Back by popular demand!

The six-member dance troupe Chez-zam will provide a night of entertainment tailored to our theme, Roll Out the Red Carpet. Through music selection, theatrical costuming, talent selection, choreography, and atmospheric effects, Chez-Sam will present a spectacular evening of Hollywood-style pageantry and fun.

The group’s DJ amps up the volume in the Ballroom to get you out on the dance floor.
