Dr. Winther Appointed Emergency Services Director at LFH
Dr. Mark Winther, an emergency medicine physician at Bassett Medical Center, has been named director of Emergency Services at Little Falls Hospital.
Hospital CEO Michael Ogden says, “The emergency department is a critical component of any community hospital, but that’s especially true in our case as LFH is Herkimer County’s only hospital. We have continued to expand our services over the years to meet the needs of the region we serve. Emergency medicine is one of those areas that continues to see a growth in demand that warrants the appointment of this position. I’m pleased to welcome Dr. Winther as head of Emergency Services at Little Falls Hospital.”
In announcing Winther’s appointment, Bassett Healthcare Network Chief of Emergency and Trauma Services Dr. August Leinhart noted, “Dr. Winther has demonstrated great clinical acumen and keen abilities in the team practice of emergency medicine since coming to Bassett in 2008. His leadership of the Emergency Department at Little Falls Hospital will be a great asset as it comes at a time when the hospital is experiencing growth and change in a very dynamic Mohawk Valley.”
Winther completed his emergency medicine residency at Albany Medical Center and his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, at Siena College, in Loudonville, N.Y. He received his medical degree at the University of Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
He is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, a member of the American Medicine Resident Association, American College of Emergency Medicine and the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. Dr. Winther lives in Richfield Springs, N.Y.
