The Little Falls Hospital Emergency Department offers around-the-clock, comprehensive emergency services as part of the Bassett Healthcare Emergency Services and Trauma network. Providers at Little Falls Hospital interface with board-certified Emergency Medicine physicians in Cooperstown through telephone and telemedicine connections, thus enabling staff members at both sites to participate in patient care in a highly effective, coordinated manner.

Ambulatory (Same Day) Surgery
Once upon a time, surgery meant a long stay at a large and unfamiliar hospital, far from home. Those days are gone. Today, many common surgical procedures are done on an outpatient (same-day) basis. Here at Little Falls Hospital, general surgery and other minor outpatient procedures are available for your convenience.

Medical Imaging

Radiology is the branch or speciality of medicine that deals with the study and application of imaging technology like x-ray and radiation to diagnosing and treating disease.

Radiologists direct an array of imaging technologies (such as ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) Computed Axial Tomography, nuclear medicine, Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)) to diagnose or treat disease. Interventional radiology is the performance of (usually minimally invasive medical procedures with the guidance of imaging technologies. The acquisition of medical imaging usually carried out by the radiographer or radiologic technologist.

Computed tomography (CT) is a test that combines x-rays and computer scans. The result is a detailed picture that can show problems with soft tissues (such as the lining of your sinuses), organs, (such as your kidneys or lungs).

Infusion Therapy
Infusion Therapy is a type of medical treatment in which medication is delivered directly into the body via a blood vessel, the spinal cord, or a muscle. This type of therapy is used when oral therapy is not an option, for a variety of reasons ranging from swallowing disorders which make it difficult for patients to swallow medications and food to the use of medications which would be destroyed in the stomach, and must therefore be delivered directly.

Laboratory
Little Falls Hospital in conjunction with the Bassett Healthcare Network transitioned our laboratory services from Centrex Labs to an in-house laboratory. Laboratory services play a vital role in the continuum of patient care. Our in-house laboratory allows for timely, accurate, cost-effective testing that ensures all quality requirements. Little Falls Hospital’s Laboratory has selected Mayo Medical Laboratories as its primary reference laboratory. This selection will give LFH access to Mayo Clinic’s extensive menu of laboratory tests and clinical expertise. “Mayo Medical Laboratories have outstanding capabilities and quality,” said Stephanie Dyer, LFH Technical Supervisor. “This new relationship will benefit not only our patients but physicians with whom we work.” Laboratory service have been expanded to include, lipid panels, thyroid testing and hemoglobin AIC.
