| Location and Area Information | Cooperstown is a part of the Leatherstocking Country of James Fenimore Cooper novels. It is a land between the rolling hills of the Catskill Mountains and the Mohawk Valley, containing farms, green meadows and beautiful lakes and rivers. Cooperstown is nestled at the base of one of the most beautiful lakes in the state and at the headwaters of the 444 mile Susquehanna River.
Residents of the Leatherstocking Region area enjoy and appreciate the fine cultural and recreational activities that are offered. Housing is affordable, there are good school systems, and the crime rate is low. This friendly community takes pride in its heritage and breathtaking scenery.
Cooperstown is centrally located just off of Route 20 in the state of New York. It is approximately a 1.5 hour drive to Albany and 2 hours to Syracuse. Cooperstown is about a 4 hour drive North of the Big Apple and South of the Canadian Border. |
