Tickets Almost Sold Out for "A Pink Tie Affair," the Bassett New Year's Eve Gala

December 1, 2014

Tickets are nearly gone for the Friends of Bassett Healthcare Network’s 2014 New Year’s Eve Gala, “A Pink Tie Affair.” The event, now in its twenty-first year, is held annually at the Otesaga Resort Hotel in Cooperstown. This year proceeds from the gala will benefit the Women’s Imaging Center Campaign for Bassett Medical Center. The $1.5 million campaign, launched last year, will help to fund the purchase of new breast-cancer screening and diagnosis equipment and assist with the renovation of the existing facility in Cooperstown.

The gala takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 31. The evening features cocktails and hors d’œuvres, a live auction with Dr. Donald Raddatz as auctioneer, a dinner buffet, open bars, a midnight champagne toast and fireworks.

The evening’s honorees are Nicholas Nicoletta and his wife, Christina. Nicoletta has been Bassett Healthcare Network’s corporate vice president and chief financial officer for 27 years and a valued member of the staff at Bassett for 39 years. He retires at the end of this year. The gala committee chair is Lynn Johnson, Bassett Medical Center’s director of radiology.

The evening’s entertainment will feature the live band Chaser from New York City. Chaser has been performing for more than 25 years, and the eight-piece band features a unique blend of New York's finest professional musicians. Also, DJ Sound FX will liven up the crowd with a high-energy light show. Professional dancers get the party started and keep it going through midnight.

This year the gala auction committee is hosting a special live auction of unique and one-of-a kind items, including: a one-week stay in a private villa at the Marriott Kaua’i Beach Club, Hawaii; a ten-day stay in Penney Cottage in Heytesbury, England; and a getaway weekend at the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa in Lake Placid, N.Y. To review all auction items, call the Friends office for a copy of the event program.
