Delaware Academy Wins Big at 18th Annual O’Connor Hospital Holiday Parade

The 18th Annual O’Connor Hospital Holiday Parade and Open House took place on Saturday, Dec. 3th,on Main Street Delhi, with more than 40 units participating. 98 children had their pictures taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus after the parade.

This year’s big winner, Delaware Academy Central Schools, took Best School Float in all three prize categories. Third place was awarded to the Gay Straight Alliance group, second place went to the Safety Patrol and first place to the Future Farmers of America (FFA) Club. Additional O’Connor Hospital Holiday parade winners include the community’s Best Marching Bands: Franklin Central School (fourth place); Lauren’s Central School (third place), Delaware Academy Central Schools (second place), and Charlotte Valley Central School (first place).

Additional awards were given to the following community groups: Best Girl Scout Troop: Delhi Scouts Service Unit 350; Best Boy Scout Troop: Delhi Pack 33 (second place) and Hobart Pack 39 (first place); Best Community Float: Delhi Women and Men’s Club (third place), Delhi Rangers (second place) and The ARC of Delaware County (first place); Best Fire Department: Bovina Fire Department (third place), Bloomville Fire Department (second place) and Delhi Fire Department (first place); Best 4-H Youth Group Float: Happy Hearts from East Meredith; Best Church Holiday Float: Delhi Alliance Church (second place) Lutheran Church of Delhi (first place); Best Business Holiday Float: Ingram’s Auto (third place), Sidney Federal Credit Union (second place) Vintage Valley Farm (first place).

“Michael Howard, event organizer, said, “My goal is to have the whole county represented in the hospital holiday parade to celebrate our communities."
