George Miner Mackenzie Medical Library and Learning Resource Center The Medical Library provides information services designed to meet the research, education, & patient care needs of Bassett staff and students. It is centrally located and open 24 hours daily with two professional librarians in attendance on weekdays. There are currently thirteen PCs networked to a printer. The collection consists of approximately 450 current reference books and 1200 circulating books. The Library also subscribes to more than 240 print titles and has access to over 1,000 electronic journals. The Library provides access to Medline, Up To Date, Micromedex, CINAHL, HealthStar, Caucerlet, Cochrane, and EBM. A scanner and presentation software, along with Microsoft Office software, are available in the Learning Resource Center. Inter-library loan service for books, journal articles and audiovisuals and free photocopying facilities are provided. Computer-assisted learning programs are available along with Internet access. Videoconferencing Since 1994, Bassett has developed a medical telecommunications network to link the central campus to the regional health centers and affiliated hospitals by interactive video and still-image transfer technology for distance learning and videoconferencing programs. Residents and medical students at Bassett Healthcare-Cooperstown or at regional sites participate in these interactions as an integral part of the educational process.
