Welcome to all of you students, residents, and faculty who seek to share our adventure in medical education. Bassett has a rich tradition as a center for learning, always focused on the central mission of excellent patient care.
We are in the midst of an exciting growth phase, expanding our facilities and developing a model rural cardiac care program. With the expansions and the technological advances it brings, however, we remain committed to the education of broadly trained physicians with the knowledge and skills that will take them in whatever direction they choose.
The practice of medicine is challenging, rewarding, at times mystifying and ultimately human. As physicians, we share in the triumph and tragedies in our patients' lives. That privilege deserves our profound respect. The training programs at Bassett foster that respect, while guiding the trainee as he or she explores the depth and breadth of the art and science of medicine.
